Wilson's plans have been to sell these files to anyone in the world who wants one. They will be available for download on his website.

Defense Distributed's legal stance against such a sale is not clear, and the company hasn't stated whether it plans to challenge the order.

The company does not support any legal strategy against copies being made worldwide. In addition, Wilson has said he doesn't intend on suing those who have used him.

Wilson, who lives in Texas, plans to release his files to distributors who have copies of his files abroad.

Defense Distributed's legal team has argued that the government's move to make copies of the documents public violated the First Amendment.

"There is no evidence of any court order that would require the government to distribute those documents abroad. Rather, it was designed to protect their interests," the attorneys wrote.
