"We're going to be one of those businesses," Fils-Aime said.
"We're going to be one of those businesses," Fils-Aime said. "We're going to be a video game company. We're going to be a video game company. That's our name, that's what we call it."
Fils-Aime, the first of a series of panels at the GeekWire Summit, also spoke of the company's long history with software development, and the company's efforts with developing new products, and his thoughts on how the U.S. would view Nintendo's approach to the industry.
"We're on an extremely good path. When I go outside of Japan, it's kind of like playing basketball, and I'm kind of happy that I can play basketball. I think we can see some things in the future as well."
Fils-Aime said that while the U.S. is excited about the Nintendo Switch, the company is also interested in bringing games to the world.
"We do a lot of the work in Japan, we do a lot of the work in the U.S., so it's a little bit of a hybrid market. Maybe something like the Wii U, if we want to be more specific. We do the work in Japan, and we do a lot of the work in the U.S. We're really excited about that. That's the kind of market we're in right now."
He added, "I think that the thing we're going to do is we're going to really expand our game development and make Nintendo games. For us, if you want to play some Nintendo games, you need to have a Nintendo game. We're going to make games out of games that we understand and love. That's what we're doing. We're not doing it solely for the Wii U. We want to make games out of things that we understand and love, and that's what we're doing."
