“VFEmail's Twitter account said that his personal data was also wiped. The account said that, at some point between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., he decided to encrypt the backup server before it was destroyed.“

In a move that the company says is "in response to VFEmail's efforts to shut down the service after it was destroyed," VFEmail’s Twitter account said Wednesday that its personal data was also wiped. The account said that, at some point between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., he decided to encrypt the backup server before it was destroyed.

VFEmail was also forced to shut down some of its services.
"I have no idea where VFEmail actually got the passwords, but I know they were compromised," VFEmail’s Twitter account said.

VFEmail said Wednesday that it was not aware of any incidents of hackers taking down its services or its services.
The company said it is providing support to victims of hacks like yesterday's.
