Dogs that were adopted by her mother have more than a natural fear of predators.

The number of animals adopted by her mom may rise in recent years as more and more residents report the disease, according to The Humane Society of the United States.

The group is calling on state and federal agencies to adopt more dogs for a variety of reasons including as a pet, as a medical precaution, to reduce the prevalence of the disease, and to be aware of the animal's health risks and what they can do to protect it.

The organization also wants state and federal agencies to act on the recommendations of the American Veterinary Medical Association to allow dogs to get a rabies vaccination.

"It is a very complex disease, but it is something that has to be addressed," said Susan Henningshausen, the organization's director of animal welfare.

The Humane Society of the United States has more than 100 adoptions of dogs across 42 states, and it is working with local, state and federal agencies in its efforts to educate local and state officials on rabies.

Start the quest Dawnguard. From the main area, look
