This isn't Gab's first time trying to shut down a site that has become synonymous with hate and anti-Semitism. In 2011, Gab blocked a website that hosted an anti-Semitic video called "Pizza Man: Jewish Pizza Man" after the videos were removed from YouTube. The site, which was also known as "Pizza Man," was later taken down.
"Gab does not condone hate speech, but as a community we must be open and tolerant of hate speech and anti-Semitism," Google told Ars. "We take all forms of harassment seriously."
Gab's removal of the site came after news broke last week that the social media site had shut down its site that was hosting the video and an anti-Semitic article. Google has since denied that censorship.
Gab's latest takedown comes at a time when other groups are trying to shut down Gab that has been critical of its content. Earlier this month, the Anti-Defamation League said that its members had taken anti-Semitic videos "as far as possible," and that they would continue to post them.
Gab, which often goes by one name, is also a website to "censor" people's comments about Jews, as Breitbart News reported. But since BuzzFeed News last week took down an account that had been hosting anti-Semitic videos, Gab has been under fire as well.
The sites that Gab is now under attack are Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other mainstream Web sites. Gab's new home page has been blocked from Twitter and other social media sites for more than a month, and has been in discussions with Google and other Web sites. Gab's new site, which was started by @GabGab, has now been shut down for violating the terms of service, according to a report by BuzzFeed News. Gab's new home page has been blocked from Facebook. We've seen the likes of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and even Beyonce, but this year's Grammy Awards are all about the music.
