The whole trip was a blur. The first few were to a restaurant called The Katsuya (pronounced as "the katsuya") at the end of the street, which was just a short walk from the station entrance. Katsuya was the best of the rest, offering some deliciously sweet things, but not much to my taste. The second was to a place called Goshu (pronounced as "goshu"), in the middle of the park, and was a bit of a hit with both me and the customers. I was not particularly interested in anything of value because I was a bit of a fan of my own company, but the store's main attraction was the large collection of Goshu candies that all came packaged in plastic bags, in a sort of kimono with the company logos on it. I could walk into any store and buy a candy bar, but when I went to get them, they were all in plastic bags and didn't even have a label on them.
For the most part, the only thing I did find were the tiny plastic bags.
Well, first of all, this was a company known for their Katsuya and a lot of the time, they were a place where you could get candy and other products that you wanted, and it was good. But what really made this place special was that they were a small company, and the size of the stores meant that there were fewer people. You could just pick up some of the candy and pay a bit more.
And that was all to get me some of the best prices, for this place. So when the store closed, I took a bag of candies to a nearby convenience store (which I could have purchased at any other convenience store in Tokyo). The store also had a lot of the same things that I was looking at and was actually trying to get to, but I couldn't even get out of my bag. That was the real kicker. After I got home, I had to buy these, and it was just a horrible shame.
And the best part was that I didn't have to worry about the store closing any time soon. I had no expectation that I would be spending $33 for all the candy I'd bought just to get this one on my bucket list. As you can see from the photos, there were
