The Reverb Virtual Reality Headset Professional Edition is part of HP's "Pioneering Virtual Reality" initiative that looks to be headed up by Brad Wood, formerly in charge of gaming for Dell. As part of the company's first-ever VR headset, the Reverb is based on HP's latest ZenMote 3D Vision, which is a 3D-centric head-mounted display (HMD), which enables consumers to play and interact with virtual objects in the 3D space.

HP also announced plans to launch a new series of products that will be designed to bring a 3D experience to mobile devices over the next year. It will also launch an additional line of headsets for PC owners. The two devices will be named Reverb and Reverb VR, respectively. HP is the first company in the industry that will be shipping the products on tablets and mobile devices in the coming years, which is particularly exciting given that VR headsets are expected to hit the market by 2018, and that the PC market is very likely to follow suit for the next several years. On November 19th, 2013, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in New York, New York, published regulations regarding the handling, storage, or inspection of electronic data stored in the United States.
