The new reports also provide an indication that some airlines may choose to delay the sale of the modified Lion Air 737 MAX or the Ethiopian Airlines 737 MAX and take advantage of the new MCAS system to increase their margins. According to the New York Times:
According to a company spokesman, Boeing has not yet decided whether it will proceed with the sale of the modified Lion Air 737 MAX and how it will handle the changes in operating conditions under the new system. "We're not going to be doing this," said the spokesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak candidly about the details. "There is a lot more we have to do to make the airplane more comfortable."
Boeing doesn't seem to have changed their program strategy, and there are some concerns that they will be unable to take advantage of the new system. In fact, they have already introduced the new system in their first pre-production version of the 737 MAX.
So what is the deal?

The New York Times reports that the company plans to provide a new report on the problems involved with the modified Lion Air 737 MAX this fall. It's not the first time it's been made public. A number of airlines have also reported problems with the aircraft during their pre-production iterations, including Boeing and Airbus. Boeing is now working on an updated version of the Lion Air 737 MAX with performance and safety features built in—with the company also considering upgrading the MCAS system. This story was originally published by The Huffington Post.
