He was fired Monday, after a judge found him guilty in a trial that had been held for weeks. He remains on probation.

The Associated Press also reached out to Mr. Deutsch's family and friends for comment.

Mr. Deutsch, who was born in Germany and is the first black man ever appointed chief engineer, has been a leader in the company's board of directors and board of directors since 2007, when it formed in 2010.

The company has a market capitalization of about $4 billion, about half from the $2.6 billion that it had in 2006. It has hired more than 2,400 people this year and is expected to hire more than 2,500 employees by the end of the year, its chief executive said.

Mr. Deutsch, who had been in charge of the company for 22 years, said he and other leaders in the company have had "a long and successful relationship in this room." Mr. Deutsch also said he was proud of those who have helped him improve.
