The "end of the line" for CPUs and GPUs, TSMC
The "end of the line" for CPUs and GPUs, TSMC said, "is being pushed into the next generation of CPUs and GPUs, which will be driven by the rapid development of new technologies and the availability of the technologies that will be needed. This will mean more CPU and GPU chips, and significantly more power, and more power consumption, per unit of power, than is ever available before."
GlobalFoundries is also a major provider of the new chips, so it is likely that it will be the primary supplier of Ryzen, Threadripper, and Epyc chips. GlobalFoundries is an important supplier of new CPUs for Microsoft, AMD, and Samsung, as well as Intel, Sony, and other manufacturers that make PC games and operating systems.
Intel's next-generation processors are still going to be based on the 3D processors that were pioneered by Intel in 2001. Today, the chip is being used for 3D gaming, but that still means a lot of the graphics-intensive operations are done on the lower-powered 3D processors. Intel also has the ability to add 3D graphics in some of its next-gen chips as well. A handful of new 3D graphics chips are expected to be on the market, but the most popular ones, including the new Skylake-based Core i7 and i7-7900K, will likely not be released until 2015.
Intel's Next-Gen Chips provide a lot of performance improvements over the Intel Xeon and i7 processors. The Core i7-8610K, for example, provides better cache and higher clock speeds. The i7-7900K and i7-7820X are much faster processors, making it more efficient and performing better in most tasks, but the processor design doesn't quite match the performance of Intel's Xeon processors.
Intel's next-gen chips are expected to use the same architecture as the Intel Xeon chips, which allows higher performance and lower power consumption. The chips will be based on the Intel Skylake processors in combination with the 8nm process, but no details have been released about which processor.
The latest Skylake-based chips include the i7-7700K, i7-7700K-Z, and i7-7700X. The i7-7700K and i7-7700X will be made by Skylake-based TSMC in the near future. AMD is expected to have an 8-core-per
