The Australian government's climate change advisers are also under the spell of Australia's Climate Action Plan, which is expected to come into effect by mid-2019. Australia is expected to begin using the new government's plan in 2014, with a decision to start using the plan by 2019.

Australia is also set to issue a new rule aimed at blocking the sale of carbon-intensive energy products, which could lead to a "catastrophic" loss of about 500,000 jobs.
