The attacks were the latest in an ongoing series of scams aimed at Google and its advertising partners.
The fraud scheme has been in the works for years, but Google has been quietly rolling out more sophisticated malware and other tools to prevent the spread.
“Google has said it has no plans to expand its efforts to address the problem or expand its network of ad bots.
The latest of the scam attacks was uncovered last year following three separate scams that were alleged to have been targeting Google customers. Google, with two different mobile advertising solutions, launched a separate campaign in March and, after a few days of service, was able to turn over more than 100,000 of its ad-blocking services to the law enforcement agency, according to the FBI.
Google and Play have denied the allegations and said they will cooperate fully with the Department of Justice.
A Google spokeswoman said, "These claims are false and malicious and we are taking all steps to fully cooperate with law enforcement in a way that is not inconsistent with our core values. As we have stated before, we have always worked to build on our long-standing commitment to providing a safe, secure and secure Internet for our users and our partners."
The FBI has been working with the FTC to investigate the scam and the company has said it plans to implement improvements to its defenses to protect its customers in the future.
Google has long fought on the side of privacy and the government, and is seeking to avoid widespread use of the virus that causes Web surfing to be blocked and slow to load to sites. The company said it has been notified of the scam by the FTC and will take steps to protect its users who use the service.
Google has said it plans to continue to investigate this kind of activity.
Microsoft said in a statement, "We are not aware of any actual malicious activity by Google, but will be very careful in the future to fully cooperate with law enforcement as we see fit."
Google has long said it doesn't sell advertising and Google Play offers a free service that helps users manage their data and prevent data theft from other companies.
