Starlink’s gameplay is a little more complex—as seen in the opening cinematic, the game only has one single-player campaign—but it is still interesting and captivating. Like many other sci-fi games, you have an option to choose the way to get the fuel you need from Earth—or you can take the alternative, and have that fuel purchased from a station to make your own fuel. There's also a variety of multiplayer modes that allow you to take on teams of players that are ready to fly through space to make the trip.

The story and characters are very well integrated, but there are some oddities too. While your team can be a part of a larger team, they are always in the same spot, and are only available to the team that actually has to fly through space. For instance, if you go off course, they might not seem to be in the same spot, but you may never be able to get to them. This is a little odd, as there are two different maps, but the best of both worlds is the one that looks more like a space station. This could be because of the lack of a multiplayer menu, but most of the time, you are in the same spot, and there is a map available there that is similar to the one you just visited.

The other major point of confusion is that, as I found out this week, the AI is quite simple. While it's true that there isn't a single player mode or level system, it may have meant that the game might have been a little too much for some players who only wanted a game with a single-player campaign. As a result, the AI was not designed to be a part of the multiplayer. Though I do not understand how this can be—for instance, I think it probably is because it is difficult for the players to get to a mission. This doesn't seem to be a problem for all of the characters, which is a huge plus.

Overall, Starlink’s is a compelling, engaging platformer that offers a unique approach to sci-fi. It seems like an obvious choice for a console, but it is not. For as long as I have been playing it on the GameCube, I have always found the controls a little clunky, and its controls seem overkill. Still, the game feels like a game that is going to take you out of your comfort zone and let you explore the galaxy. It is, however, worth noting
