In the same speech, he noted that "coal is a threat to our health, our environment."

When he first ran for President, he promised to repeal the Clean Power Plan and eliminate coal. But he has since reversed course and has reversed that pledge in the State of the Union.

But coal has lost in federal elections, and President Trump is likely to face stiff opposition from Republican lawmakers who oppose his efforts to undo the Clean Power Plan .

If coal loses, it could be a sign of a change in our economy and the direction of our government. A decade ago, coal mining was one of the most valuable industries in the country. Today it's a major source of our energy, and that's a good thing. But coal also has an impact on our economy and our environment, and we need to be concerned about climate change in particular.
