"In the event of a significant change in our portfolio, we will continue to invest capital in new projects (and) plan accordingly," a Charter spokesman said in a statement.

That, combined with Charter's increased focus on the Internet of Things, has seen an "increase in the number of customers accessing our services every day of the year," according to the Charter press release.

"We are confident that our strategic investment in the future can provide new revenue opportunities for our customers, and we will continue to deliver on our goal of having the most secure Internet in the world," the company's chairman said in a statement. "We are committed to further strengthening our broadband infrastructure and enhancing our customer experience through our mobile and cable services."

We've been working on this for a while and since then it has gotten much more complex.
