In January, The New York Times published an article that showed that Trump tapped into the power of the Federal Trade Commission to create an unlicensed network of news outlets and advertisers to spread fake news. The Times also mentioned Trump's executive order banning transgender people from the military in an interview with The Washington Post.

But in a statement to Vox Friday, a senior White House official told the newspaper, "We cannot talk about the future of our political process or the future of our country."

"We are going to conduct a thorough review of the executive order, but we cannot talk about the future of our political process or the future of our country," the official said. "We will have an independent, impartial, and objective review of this executive order and any other actions taken by the Department of Justice that are contrary to the public interest."

Trump's order to ban transgender people from the military was issued by a government-appointed commission that was given a final vote in March.
