In fact, the title has been described as something of an "open beta" for the game. A "beta" is "a time when a player or developer wants to show a prototype to potential players," so to speak, and an "open beta" means that anyone can play for free. While the game is playable on the Wii U for now, that doesn't mean players won't be able to get hooked on Diablo III, either. The game also runs on the Nintendo Switch platform, which means that anyone can play, and play with, a variety of characters and weapons with the console.

Even with all of this, there's still room for improvement. The first time that the game is playable on the Nintendo Switch is on a date that we got to play in March, during the Diablo III Launch Party for the Nintendo Switch. The party takes place over the course of one night on a rainy Sunday afternoon. As you head west through the snowy mountains, you'll discover that there's no one to help you out in the battle against the Necromancer, so instead, you'll be forced to fight your way through some of its most difficult-to-kill enemies—and kill even more of the Necromancers. The party's goal is to get the Necromancer to reveal a secret treasure chest that will allow you to reveal a number of hidden characters in Diablo III.

When you do, you'll find it's an easy path, one that may seem insurmountable, but it's actually quite feasible. The Necromancer has a unique trick, though: it can't make a full-on attack, so you must use a bow, and you must use your shield. Even though the Necromancer's primary attack is a bow, the game forces you to use a shield. So you must use your shield to avoid being hit, and you cannot attack enemies that have been hit by your sword. In fact, if you're going to use a shield, you must use the shield to prevent the opponent from being hit.

This, in turn, means that you can fight the Necromancer at any time with the console's single-player support, but it's harder than it sounds. This is a game that can be played for free, in a single night. It's also a game that's not only able to be played on both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U, but on Xbox One as well.
