"I was able to work the way I wanted during this process, but as an investor, I have to live with the consequences," Musk said in a statement Monday morning. "I had a very difficult experience with a company that I believe is not up to the high standards, and I am committed to moving forward from this."

Musk's legal troubles have prompted some investors to weigh in, with investors noting that Musk's settlement could bring some additional liquidity to his company. But the SEC has said that it won't pursue any further investigations into Musk's finances or his alleged involvement with the Saudi fund.

"I think that's going to be a short-lived investment for me," said Warren Buffett, who purchased Tesla shares last year. "This is a little bit of a bubble of a company and not much of a situation. I'm sure it will go away in a little bit, but I'm also extremely pessimistic about what's going to happen."

The SEC's case with Tesla has raised questions about potential conflicts of interest in the future. Musk has claimed to be able to raise more than $90 million in his first year of investing, Bloomberg reported.
