Google has a couple of reasons for this new announcement. First, the release means that all Google Pixel phones are now available for pre-order right now, and that you can preorder them from Google Play today, or order them from any Google Store store you visit. It also means that if you like what you see here, and want to try out some of the new features in Android 8.0 Oreo, you can order a new Pixel phone now.

Next, the release means that the public beta version of Android for Pixel devices will debut on the Pixel 2 XL last year, and that you'll have the final version of Android for Pixel phones in the Play Store as well.

That's a big deal. The company also announced the official Pixel 2 Pixel 2 XL's launch on September 29th, but you can see that Google has also unveiled the official software for the Pixel, and that it currently supports the 2-inch Pixel 2 XL.
