This suggests that the filters and social networks that are used by people online can be as effective at helping you avoid conflicts as they are at making you share information with us. When this experiment was put together, the researchers were surprised to see that the groups that had the highest levels of affiliations did not differ by their political ideologies. "The same people in different groups are likely to be the same in different social networks," David Grosvenor of the University of Pittsburgh told me. "That's the most important thing."
