For the first time in more than a decade, I
For the first time in more than a decade, I can't use the Surface Book 2's Thunderbolt 3 port. I can't use my desktop to power my laptop, and even if I did, I'm sure it would be difficult to get it to work for me. I think that's because the ports on the Surface Book 2 are so short and fragile; they have to be re-sized in order to make up for the limited space on the wall (and my MacBook Pro's battery lasts for months).
And now that I'm convinced, it's time for us to fix the Thunderbolt 3 issue.
1. The Surface Book 2 (and iPad Air 2) are not as good as they used to be
In the first year of Microsoft's Surface business, the Surface Book 2 was considered a new device. In the second, when it became obvious that Surface would be a huge failure for the company, the company announced an upgrade to the first generation of the iPad Air 2. The Surface Book 2 will be better, but that will not change anything about its performance, its price, or the general look of the company.
2. The Surface Pro 8 is better than the MacBook Air
In the past, I've always felt that the Surface Pro 8 was more than a premium device. It was an all-around, all-day, all-encompassing laptop. And it was a good thing, because it offered a lot of real-world flexibility. A new computer was not just an extension of the Pro 8; it was everything from the desktop to the smart devices I grew up with, and from the notebooks that I still use. And that's not to say it wasn't great.
