CrowdStrike was able to gain access to sensitive accounts at the DNC's computers because it had been provided the names, addresses, and passwords of individual members of the committee and the staff that had been compromised by the intruders. The NRCC said in a statement that it had responded "with utmost respect to those who have reported the intrusion and the committee's systems have been fully breached."
The NRCC's systems were not affected by the attack.
While the NRCC did not provide details on the identity of the individual who was allegedly compromised, Politico reported that DNC officials could not have known that the DNC emails and other information they have stolen, or that the breach occurred before the DNC was breached, because the company has a system for identifying compromised systems. Politico could not comment on how the DNC was able to identify the source of the breach, but it did cite the company's security system, which works as well as the DNC's.
The attack is likely a significant escalation of the Russian interference in the US election. The Russian government conducted cyberattacks against the DNC and other organizations in order to disrupt the election, which is how Clinton came to victory. The United States has been accused of meddling in the election by hacking into Democratic Party servers and damaging Democratic Party information.

Yet, some of what we know is still good. We have already seen the impact of the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, and the rapid global recovery from the outbreak in Sierra Leone.
The problem is, we don't yet know what Ebola will do to our health systems.
The best that we can do to address this challenge is to look at the best available data. The best that we can do is to work with the best available scientific and human research to understand how and why a virus can cause such devastating consequences to human health.
