Bronty made his first purchase as a kid, selling a Sega Genesis for $10 in 2001. He bought it for $10 to play games on his dad's computer that he had always thought were very funny. "It was a great way to get myself started in a lot of things like video games," Bronty said.

In 2001, Bronty's parents divorced. They had moved to another city and he was living with his father's sister in Las Vegas. He moved into an apartment on the 10th floor of the building, which was a tiny living area. The living room was a little rough around the edges and he still had a lot of furniture, but he couldn't help it. "I just wanted to keep playing," Bronty said.

He went on to play Super Mario Bros. in the first half of 2002 while looking at books. But before that he never had any interest in video games.

Bronty didn't get in touch with Bronty at all until he came across the site that was run by his friend and former eBay seller, Matt "Mama" Bronty.

"He was kind of an interesting guy, who was a very interesting guy," Bronty said. "I just knew this guy was a great guy."

Mama, who is now the director of the company, told Ars that he's very interested in collecting vintage games. "I'm very interested in the history of video games, and what kind of a gaming world it would be and how we would see it in the future. It's very interesting to see how people might think about those two things."
