At a press event at E3 this July, the studio revealed a bunch more things about what the game will be. The first is that the game will also include an online leaderboard: "We've been working on a way to let players compete against each other on the internet, and at launch, that will provide a much more meaningful matchmaking experience than you'd get with a traditional multiplayer game." It's unclear if this will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive in the U.S. as this is an open-source project, but I'd imagine that it would probably be. Still, it's an eye-opening development if you're looking for a first-party Switch game to boot.

"We're really excited about the possibilities of this game, and the potential that it could be an expansion of the classic tower defense," says Make Games head of development Jason D'Almeida. He adds that the team has been working on bringing the game to the Switch for a couple of weeks now. "We're really excited about it, but we haven't been able to get it on the Switch yet."

For the first time in a long time, there's an option to have the game be on the Switch. Players can try out the game on their own Switch through their friends in the community. They say that the expansion would be a "huge update" for the PS4 version, and that "the game was originally planned to be free and there's no plans for a subscription." As we've been reporting, that's a bit of an exaggeration. Towerfall launches on September 28, the same day that The Last of Us will be out.

And finally, we've got a little more to say. "We're really excited to bring in this fantastic community," D'Almeida continues when asked if there will be a subscription service. "We want to provide a community where people can enjoy the game because, we believe, they
