As an aside, I also noted on my blog the use of VOCs in a vehicle's exhausts can cause a "fear similar to the fear of a man eating from a straw straw" [note: this could also be used to describe an odor emitted by a cigarette in the car's exhausts, which can also be seen in the exhausts of vehicles with gasoline engines].

As an early example of how the smell is different in different situations, here is a quick picture:

It seems like a new car smell is a bad idea, especially when it comes from a vehicle like an older model. If the smell is present, the car will make a certain sound every time, and there may be an unpleasant sensation if you are smelling it. But in a new car, the smell is present, and the car will not smell like a new driver's.

In China, the smell has been used to drive a car as a safety precaution as well. In addition to a few other "new car smells," the scent of the car's interior can also be smelled by a human, as described in a  blog post by a journalist for The Beijing Evening Star. The following are a few examples of the same scent, and I think it's interesting to note that the "new car smell" is actually a common occurrence in China, where there are numerous reports that car owners are using the "new car smell" in order to avoid getting sick from a new car smell.

1. A cigarette has been burning for a long time and seems to be a bad idea.  In the Chinese market, a cigarette is often found as a "new car smell" or a "new exhaust smell," but not always. In most countries, it's found in the form of burnt wood or "clay smoke." These "new car smell" can be very irritating to the body, and the "new exhaust smell" can cause a person to experience a "fear similar to a man eating from a straw straw."  The car's exhaust can also be perceived by a person who is "fear similar to a man eating from a straw straw."

Even in the US, car manufacturers are starting to try and get people to smell the cigarette. In 2007, the American Council on Safety of Cars issued a statement saying that the cigarette smell was not a bad idea. The same is true of all other  liquids, including e-cigarettes.
