Apple announced a new iPad mini next year that will carry a front-facing display, and with the next iPhone, the iPhone 4S, expected to go on sale sometime this spring, the company hopes to bring 3D sensing to the future iPad. The new iPad, which will ship with Apple's new "S" logo, has a 5.3-inch Full HD display and is priced at $649 for a base-model, and $699 for the new iPhone. Apple said it will release new models starting in the second quarter of 2012.

Bloomberg also reported that Apple may be considering a "new, faster-growing" iPad mini, which is expected to begin shipping in 2013. The iPad mini will be powered by a 10.6-inch, 1.5GHz Core i5 processor, but there are some changes to the processor that could affect the performance of the mini because each processor is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor. The iPad mini's 2.4GHz quad-core, 6-core, 1GB of RAM has been updated to include 4GB of RAM, a new 802.11ac Wi-Fi network, and a new Bluetooth 4.0 system.
