Amazon has also come under fire for using Alexa's voice
Amazon has also come under fire for using Alexa's voice to deliver customized content for its ad-supported e-commerce platform Fire TV. In May, Amazon announced that it was working on a new ad-supported e-commerce service called the Amazon Fire TV. The service will make it easier to create and sell ad-supported ads at Amazon (though it may not be available to all Fire TV customers until a few months later). At this point, it's unclear how much that service will cost. But we'll probably get a better idea of that in a month or two.
This past September, Amazon announced that it was working on a new Alexa ad-supported service called the Amazon Fire TV. The Amazon Fire TV is designed to deliver customized ads at a massive margin. Amazon's ad-supported service will also be more accessible for its Amazon Fire TV users, and Amazon has begun working with the company to integrate the Echo into Amazon Fire TV. It's hard to say how much the Echo will cost at the moment. But that's the point, and it's one of the reasons Amazon has taken so many steps to make it more accessible to its Fire TV users.
"The best way to get started with Alexa is to use the Amazon Fire TV," said Sam Gollick, the company's chief marketing officer. "We are looking to make it as easy as possible to connect to your Amazon Fire TV. We're working with Amazon to provide you with the best way to use the Amazon Fire TV." As of this writing, no one has tested the Echo, but it's clear that there's some merit to that. Gollick said that the company is actively working with Amazon to make the Echo more relevant to Fire TV users.
The Echo was originally designed as a speaker for a smaller speaker-sized room. It was designed to be used with an Echo-enabled tablet, but Google took this to become an enterprise feature, and the company's move to a larger speaker made it much more portable. So far, the Echo has been available exclusively at the local Apple store, where it's available for Android and Windows Phone users. The Amazon Fire TV is also built around a built-in speaker.
