According to the report, Simz also received a warning after a user at a member-owned website called "Game Changer" posted a video of himself masturbating on a webcam. Simz was subsequently banned by EA, and the company confirmed in a statement to Kotaku that he's now suspended, but said he will not be able to continue with his employment with the company while there. The statement also noted that he was not allowed to continue working on the game as well as he did as a member of the Sims community, and that the company was "deeply sorry for the inconvenience."
However, Simz's actions could pose a problem for EA if it doesn't address the problem further by releasing more information about the case on its website.
"The Sims has a long history of being a hugely important, and growing part of the game market," said Chris Martin, a producer with EA Games, the studio that originally hired Simz. "[Simz] has done an incredible job on the project, and we have a tremendous amount of respect for what he's done for the entire game industry."
The company says it has a "long history of working with leading designers, developers, and publishers to ensure that the game is as accessible as possible for both the Sims community and the game publisher," adding that it "previously worked with the development community on many projects, including a game called 'Sims' (in 2005), and has made the following contributions to that project, as well as working with numerous other partners and players: the Sims community, the Community Partnerships, the development team, and EA and the community for more than a year through its partnership with Simz—including an important partnership with a couple of major game companies, such as Ubisoft and Ubisoft Entertainment," according to the company's website. "We feel that this case is highly important to our game development, so we want to sincerely apologize to the Sims community for any and all concerns that it may have had regarding the case."
While the reports indicate that Simz may have been a part of EA's development team, it's unclear if the allegations are accurate and that EA's response to the allegations is anything other than an apology. "They could be a case of someone having a bad day and the company could be in trouble," Martin said. "It's something that we really believe in. We've had a long history of supporting players, and it's been great to work with them and their ideas and input and to learn from what they've
