A few months ago, Bruno made one last major move
A few months ago, Bruno made one last major move to help his company stay competitive by giving Boeing and Lockheed Martin a $500 million offer to invest in the Vulcan spacecraft, which had been in development for nearly a decade. After two years and $1.4 billion in investment, Boeing and Lockheed Martin have been able to complete the Vulcan spacecraft and have the U.S. launch rights granted, paving the way for the Vulcan 2.0 rocket to launch this year.
Bruno's team has also been working on a larger constellation of reusable rockets, including the T-34. But it's still early in the process to see the full-scale commercial-spaceflight capability of the Vulcan 2.0 vehicle, which would fit in the existing Falcon 9 rocket and the Atlas V rocket. So for now, the two main contenders remain a fairly distant second.
"I think that with the current state of ULA, there is no place in the sport for [Brocker] to go," says former Boeing and Lockheed Martin senior executive Bob DeWitt, now a senior fellow at the Center for International Relations at Rice University. "There is one place to go that can take a rocket out from under one roof and have it fly like a rocket—as a commercial spaceflight company—with its own commercial payload on board, and that's in the United States."LONDON (Reuters) - A woman was found at a London nightclub a day after her boyfriend, who had been planning to get into a fight with police, was murdered, police said on Monday, a day after he was stabbed to death in a car crash that left three people dead and more than 200 injured.
